We are a long way from home. One transatlantic flight to Amsterdam, a train to Eindhoven a car drive to Belgium, a Thalis speed train to Paris, a metro to the airport, a flight to Marrakech followed by a taxi (2.5 hrs) to Sidi Kaouki. We're completely in the middle of nowhere, the town 20 minutes of Essaouira is kind of centred around the windsurfcenter, which is the coolest center I've ever seen.
Apart from the center there is nothing here, no internet, just waves and wind.
Ziga and Nina from Slovenia, who've met in Bonaire were here as well, they left yesterday. It was cool hooking up with them after these years. They are organising windsurfing vacations and might get a group to come to Curacao next year.
The Hotsails crew is great and so are the many distributors we meet from all over the world. The first day we've been able to surf a few hours on 4.5 until the wind died. Yesterday there was no wind but we're learning a lot about the new Hotsails line which look very cool. Today I had the chance to go out on the 09 Fire in 4.7. The wind was strong and the sail was great. We are sailing here exactly the opposite as we're used to. Jumping with right foot in the front, waveriding with left foot in the front. Although I'm regular, I'm having a hard time getting the timing right. Tonight we're going to Essaouira and I will be able to post this blog update.
The wind forecast is good... more wind and more waves.
